Sen. Stella Oduah elected president of ECOWAS female parliamentarians

Senator Stella Uduah as ECOWAS female Parlementarian President

Senator Stella Oduah, lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District and former Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration,has been elected as the Presiden of ECOWAS female parliamentarians.
She made the announcement via her Twitter handle.


She pledged to use her office to advocate for laws that will empower women, especially those in rural areas also increase participation in politics.

Princess Stella Oduah was born to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor, L.G.A. in Anambra State on January 5, 1962. She received her Bachelors and Masters Degree (in Accounting and Business Administration respectively) in the United States.  In 1983, she joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Upon her return fom USA

In 1992, she left the NNPC to establish the Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited (SPG), an independent marketer of petroleum products in Nigeria.

In 2013 she was one of the delegates chosen by the President Goodluck Jonathan to attend the Papal inauguration of Pope Francis together with David Mark, President of the Senate and Viola Onwuliri, Foreign Minister. She was later appointed by the president as the of aviation in which was later sacked in the later year as a result of abuse of office.

Then in 2015 she was one of the senators elected to the 8th assembly. in which she is among the six women out of the 109 lawmakers in the Upper chamber of the National Assembly.
