The Emir of Birnin Gwari has challenged former self-styled military president, Ibrahim Babangida, to publish an autobiography that would correct the wrong impressions about him.

Zubairu Jibril Mai Gwari II spoke in Kaduna, Saturday, at the launch of a book “Ancestral Farewell” written by Dickson Adama, a Kaduna-based journalist and reporter of the Daily Trust newspapers.
Mr. Jibril said the autobiography should detail the happenings during and after the expiration of Mr. Babangida’s administration.

“Most of those who contributed to the growth of Nigeria have not written a book,” Mr. Jibril said.

“We have been waiting for a book from Military President Ibrahim Babangida to tell us exactly what he had done during his tenure.

“There are so many people accusing him of being an ‘evil genius,’ ‘maradona,’ ‘dribbler’ and all sorts. I am sure if he writes a book, Nigerians will be more enlightened about him. I therefore call on him to write a book.”

The traditional ruler also appealed to the three tiers of government to revive what used to be library across the country.

He also urged government to include the launched book among Nigerian literature in schools.

I have almost finished writing a book that is very controversial,” he added.

The book reviewer, Solomon Omayiwa, said most people who are still in government are members of the old brigade who ruled Nigeria in the past.

“How old are they now?” Asked Mr. Omayiwa, a professor.

“We need to restore mentoring culture to mentor the young ones to take over.”
Mr. Omayiwa said the book would be valuable to its readers and recommended it as a “must read” to Nigerians.
