Governor Aminu WaziriTambuwal, of Sokoto State has assured corps members of increment in their state monthly allowance, in appreciation of the monumental contributions of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)

Tambuwal, who spoke at
NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Wamakko local government while swearing-in the 2016 Batch A Stream 11 corps members posted to the state, said their welfare is a priority hence the allowance increment is with immediate effect.

While laying emphasis on higher allowance for corps members within the  medical profession, Governor Tambuwal urged corps members to be good ambassadors of both their respective families, institutions, and the country at large wherever national assignment beckons on them.

“The new increase affects all categories of youth corps members, with those serving in medical line getting more funds than others.

“Graduates of medicine will now be paid N50,000 from the current amount of N36,000. Pharmacists will now N25,000 up from the N19,000 obtainable in the past, while graduates of lab science and other medical technicians like nurses are now entitled to monthly stipend of N15,000, up from the current N9,000 they are getting from the state government.

“In the same vein, graduates of social science and humanities will now be paid N5,000 monthly, a one thousand addition from the previous N4,000 they receive as state allowance.

The governor therefore advised them against  militancy, terrorism and cultism, just as he urged corps members to explore Sokoto and study its rich history.
